Fantastic walks and gardens. Orangery serves drinks, sandwiches and cakea, along with a nice afternoon tea. Use Groupon for afternoon tea bookings. We did not have time for the tour of the house. No tour, no entry to the house.
Lovely place. Guided tours of the house only but very informative and well done. Dont miss the gatehouse as you walk- through after paying. Nice cafe in the conservatory. Not a lot of the original abbey left to see but the house is interesting.
Had afternoon tea there. Good selection of sandwiches, lovely scone with jam and cream, followed by a slice of cake and a glass of Prosecco. Only down side was the choice of tea, hubby was a little disappointed with the options, but overall a lovely experience. It is in very nice surroundings, right by the River Avon.
Pretty average.
We went to the Santa’s Grotto and the market thing, very cramped market, lots of tat shops, grotto was much the same cramped affair.
They had costumed people wandering about which the kids liked but the standout was Santa, very friendly and personable, a real highlight.
We found here a wonderful location, taken as if from a story, a good guide who took us from one room to another with short and pleasant descriptions, also the services in the Tea Room were good in an excellent atmosphere. There is no need to describe the smell of freshly cut grass and the scenery around the location...absolutely fabulous.
A fantastic house to visit with staff that are extremely welcoming, helpful and friendly. Paul, the house tour guide, was incredible and signed in Makaton the whole thing. It was fun and enjoyable to listen to and was so interesting, especially the Jane Austen link - she stayed at their family’s house in 1806 and it provided many names for her books. Overall a lovely day and would recommend!
Visited by chance as just saw the signs on the way to somewhere else. Not disappointed when we arrived, lovely friendly welcome and advised half price entry to grounds as we are English Heritage members! Very pleasant walk around the grounds on what was a very hot day so a welcomed ice cream purchased from the Orangery Cafe.
We paid a visit here as it was my birthday. The staff are friendly and helpful. We walked round the grounds which cost £7 each. It was Sunday 22nd October and everywhere was mopping up after the floods but walking the grounds was no problem. We obviously walked across the rivers edge which was moving quickly and was very high. We recommend you visit the Orangery in the grounds for afternoon tea or just a drink and cake it's a lovely place where you can look through the windows that over look the beautiful scenery outside.
